Privacy Policy

Effective 1 July 2026 · Last updated 24 October 2026

Roam is a road-trip planner. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain because that is how it should be.

Who we are

Roam is operated by Kitty Parke (a sole trader based in Australia), who provides the Roam app and the website at roam-trip.com. In this policy “we” and “us” mean that operator. If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us at email us.

We collect only what Roam needs to plan and run your trips.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

How we use it

Services we rely on

Roam uses a small number of trusted providers to run. They process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.

Google Firebase

Authentication and cloud storage of your account and trip data, so it syncs and backs up. See Google’s privacy policy.

Google Maps Platform (Places)

Place search and location details when you add stops and places.

Apple

Sign in with Apple (if you choose it), App Store purchases, and push notifications through Apple’s Push Notification service.

Stripe

Payment processing when you buy Roam Plus on roam-trip.com. Stripe handles your card details; Roam never sees or stores them.

Anthropic

When you ask Roam for ideas or a drafted route, the details needed to answer (such as the place, dates and what you asked) are sent to Anthropic’s Claude to write the reply. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.

Connecting your own AI (Claude or ChatGPT)

If you connect Roam to an AI assistant you use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, that assistant can read and change your trips through Roam, within the permissions you choose when you connect (your plan, money, people). What it reads is sent to that AI provider under your own account with them, and their privacy policy applies to it. Roam receives only the requests the assistant makes to Roam, not your conversation with it.

On a shared trip, the assistant can see what other members have added, within the same permissions, and other members see its changes as made by you through that assistant.

Roam keeps a record of each connection and of every change an assistant makes, so you can see and undo it. The record of an assistant’s changes is kept for 30 days. Roam stores the connection’s access tokens, never your AI account password. You can disconnect at any time from Profile → Account → Your AI; this stops all access straight away.

Sharing your data

We share your information only in these limited ways:

Your choices and rights

Your privacy rights (Australia)

Roam is operated from Australia and we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it. Most of this you can do directly in the app; for anything else, contact us at email us. Some of our service providers (such as Google and Apple) may store data on servers outside Australia; where that happens, that data is handled under their own privacy terms.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal data and trip content, allowing a short period for backups to cycle out.

Children

Roam is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
